Portland, OR – Today, Common Defense—a grassroots organization committed to engaging, organizing, training and mobilizing veterans to elect accountable leaders and promote progressive values in 2020 and beyond—endorsed Albert Lee for Congress in Oregon’s 3rd District.

Common Defense Political Director Alexander McCoy, a USMC veteran, released this statement: “We are proud to support Albert Lee and Oregon veterans with this endorsement. The COVID-19 crisis is the latest demonstration of the massive gaps in our institutions and safety nets for working people, and we need to elect leaders like Albert who will fight for Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, and work to end the Forever War while standing up for his fellow veterans whose healthcare is under attack.”

Albert Lee released the following statement: “I am humbled and honored to be supported by fellow veterans who see a better future that has a government that works for all of us and not just those at the very top. We must end the status quo and work for a better future for all.”

Albert Lee is a people’s champion from humble roots. He is a sixth-generation American and an immigrant at the same time. He was born in South Korea to an African-American Army Dad and a Korean mom. He was raised in working-class North County St. Louis, next door to Ferguson. He faced domestic violence and homelessness as a teen. He became a first gen college and law school grad and is a veteran of the US Army. He holds experience in international trade, project management, business, law, and most recently was an academic dean. He stepped down from the position to fight for the people. Learn more at
