Project 2025: An Attack on Veterans

Project 2025 is not just a policy plan. It’s an attack on our freedoms and a plan for sabotaging the institutions that take care of veterans. If enacted, Project 2025 would dismantle the systems that support those who’ve served their country and undermine the democracy we swore to protect.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Gutting the VA

Project 2025 plans to slash funding for the VA, leading to:

    • Longer wait times

    • Reduced access to care

    • Lower quality of services

It aims to privatize significant portions of VA healthcare, pushing veterans to seek care from private providers who may not understand our unique needs. This could lead to fragmented care, increased costs, and confusion, particularly for those in rural areas far from VA facilities.

  • Slashing Disability Compensation

Project 2025 seeks to limit the health conditions that qualify for disability benefits:

    • Conditions tenuously linked or unrelated to military service might no longer be covered.

    • Veterans currently receiving benefits could see reductions.

    • Future veterans might find it harder to get the support they need.

For example, illnesses like multiple sclerosis and Crohn's disease might be excluded from disability compensation, severely impacting the quality of life for affected veterans.

  • Undermining Democracy

Project 2025 is designed to concentrate power in the hands of a few, undermining the democratic principles we defended. Weakening checks and balances threatens our republic's very foundation, paving the way for authoritarianism. As veterans, we know the cost of freedom, and we cannot stand by as it’s jeopardized.

  • Firing Civil Servants, Including Veterans

Project 2025 proposes firing tens of thousands of federal civil servants, a significant number of whom are veterans. This would:

    • Disrupt the lives of these veterans

    • Strip the federal government of their valuable expertise and dedication

Veterans make up about 30% of the federal workforce, and these job cuts would disproportionately affect those who have already sacrificed so much for our country.
