Common Defense Endorses Dan Osborn for Senate in Nebraska

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Common Defense, a grassroots organization of veterans and military families, announced its endorsement of Dan Osborn for U.S. Senate in Nebraska. A Navy veteran, former Nebraska Army National Guardsman, industrial mechanic, and union president, Osborn is running as an independent candidate to take on incumbent Senator Pete Ricketts in what is shaping up to be one of the most consequential Senate races in the country.

Jose Vasquez, Executive Director of Common Defense, released the following statement:

“Dan Osborn is exactly the kind of leader our veterans and military families need in the Senate. He wore the uniform, came home, and kept fighting, this time for working Nebraskans on the factory floor and at the bargaining table. As president of his union, he took on one of the largest food corporations in the country and won. That’s the backbone we need in Washington right now. Common Defense members know that supporting veterans means more than campaign slogans. It means taking on the concentrated wealth and political power that seeks to gut our healthcare, Social Security, and economic future. Dan Osborn has proven he will do exactly that, and we are proud to endorse him.”

Common Defense Civic Engagement (501c4) (CDCE) is a grassroots, veteran-led organization that was founded in 2016. We empower veterans to stand up for our communities against the rising tide of racism, hate, and violence, to organize against the entrenched powers that have rigged our economy, and to champion an equitable and representative democracy, where “liberty and justice” truly is for all. For too long, politicians from both political parties have attempted to use veterans as unwilling political props, and Common Defense serves as a home for veterans to organize and speak for themselves and support the candidates who truly share our values.
