As inflation accelerates and the U.S. surpasses 100 days of Trump’s war with Iran, the six-figure ad buy features Jimmy, a combat veteran from Maine outraged by Susan Collins’ relentless support of costly forever wars
PORTLAND, MAINE — Common Defense Action Fund and the League of Labor Voters are announcing a major independent expenditure ad campaign featuring voices from the working class majority that will finally retire Susan Collins and elect Graham Platner. It is the first major, pro-Platner independent expenditure in the critical Maine Senate race.
The ad, “Jimmy”, will air on broadcast in the Portland media market. The spot features Jimmy, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force who is supporting Graham Platner in part because of his commitment to end the U.S.’s involvement in “forever wars” and Susan Collins’ repeated failures to stand up to a lawless president who has launched numerous unlawful military attacks since taking office.
Common Defense Action Fund and League of Labor Voters are part of a growing coalition of working class Mainers coming together to elect a senator who will fight for lower costs, higher wages, health care for all, and a democracy that works for people who actually work for a living. League of Labor Voters and Common Defense are proud to be joined by National Nurses United, who know electing Graham to the Senate is critical to combatting the Trump administration’s devastating attacks on America’s health care system — attacks that Susan Collins has far too often facilitated. Our coalition is also powered by hundreds of volunteers on the ground organized through Maine People’s Alliance, who knocked on over 55,000 doors and spoke to over 17,000 voters about Graham in 44 towns across Maine.
Last night, the people of Maine made clear that they are fed up with the pro-war, anti-worker, and anti-Mainer politics as usual that Susan Collins and too many DC elites represent. With last night’s results — and Platner’s resounding victory — we are now one step closer to a people’s victory in November.
