Veterans Urge Senate to Pass Afghan Adjustment Act

WASHINGTON – In the final days of this congressional session, the veterans of Common Defense call on the Senate to include the Afghan Adjustment Act (AAA) in the omnibus. The AAA would ensure that our allies, who fought alongside us in a 20-year long war, would be welcomed and given protection here in the U.S. A bipartisan group of legislators, advocates, and organizers have worked tirelessly to pass this bill in the 2022 legislative session. Now, we must carry it across the finish line and keep our promise to our allies.

Political Director of Common Defense, Naveed Shah released the following statement:

“Our Afghan allies have waited far too long. The time is now to stand by them by including the Afghan Adjustment Act in the omnibus bill. As veterans, we witnessed their courage to defend their country and aid our mission first hand. Enacting the Afghan Adjustment Act not only ensures that we hold up our end of the bargain, but also demonstrates to our allies across the world that we are as willing to support them in times of need.

“We call on the Senate to include the Afghan Adjustment Act and show the American people, Afghan allies, and the world we don’t just pay lip service to our allies–we keep our promises. Those Afghan allies who risked their lives to defend freedom now risk their own safety and security. We must bring them clarity with the Afghan Adjustment Act.”
