Veterans Endorse Ilhan Omar as a Champion for Veterans, Peace, and Communities
MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Common Defense, the nation’s largest grassroots veterans organization, is proud to announce our endorsement of one of the most steadfast champions for our progressive values and veterans’ needs in Congress. From day one, Congresswoman Omar has worked with our members to advance critical policies that veterans across the nation hold dear.
When Common Defense launched our End the Forever War Campaign to urge Congress to end the disastrous and immoral U.S. occupation of Afghanistan after nearly two decades of war, Ilhan was one of the first members of Congress to join us in that fight and ultimately helped ensure the campaign was successful. Now, as the world watches the atrocities being committed against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, the Congresswoman is still one of the few boldly taking a stand for human dignity and life by urging a ceasefire, the return of hostages, and an end to the unjust occupation and apartheid abetted by U.S. policies. She remains committed to principles of peace and a just foreign policy. We campaign for peace from everywhere from Afghanistan to Ukraine to Israel to our own communities here at home, and we are proud to support Ilhan as an ally in this fight and join in solidarity with her to ensure she stays in Congress.
