CHARLOTTE, NC – Common Defense, the nation's largest grassroots organization of progressive veterans, representing nearly 400,000 members, is proud to announce its endorsement of the following North Carolina candidates who are committed to combating MAGA extremism and protecting democracy in this critical battleground state:

Alma Adams (NC-12)

Josh Stein (NC Governor)

Jeff Jackson (NC Attorney General)

These candidates exemplify a true commitment to democratic values and demonstrate the leadership required to confront the MAGA extremist agenda that threatens the state and our nation. They are true advocates for the veterans who once swore an oath to defend our democracy and the many military families who call North Carolina home.

Common Defense is dedicated to mobilizing veterans and military families across North Carolina to support these exceptional candidates through grassroots organizing, voter engagement, and advocacy efforts. Together, we will build a more just and equitable society for all.

Common Defense Civic Engagement is a grassroots, veteran-led organization that was founded in 2016. We empower veterans to stand up for our communities against the rising tide of racism, hate, and violence, to organize against the entrenched powers that have rigged our economy, and to champion an equitable and representative democracy, where “liberty and justice” truly is for all. For too long, politicians from both political parties have attempted to use veterans as unwilling political props, and Common Defense serves as a home for veterans to organize and speak for themselves and support the candidates who truly share our values.
