WASHINGTON, D.C. – CommonDefense.us—representing veterans who swore to protect the values of justice and fairness—stands in unwavering solidarity with unions across the country fighting for fair and living wages. Members of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), the Writers Guild of America (WGA), and now the United Auto Workers (UAW) are courageously striking for fair labor contracts and we proudly support their efforts.

“At CommonDefense.us, we understand the importance of a just and equitable society, where the rights and dignity of workers are upheld. We recognize that the struggle of these unions is not just about individual contracts; it is a broader battle for economic fairness, workplace dignity, and the well-being of all workers,” said Jose Vasquez, Executive Director.

“The growing disparity between CEO and executive pay has reached record highs, while the wages of hardworking employees have failed to keep pace with the skyrocketing cost of living. This stark imbalance in wealth and power underscores the urgent need for collective action to restore fairness and equity in our workplaces,” said Naveed Shah, Political Director.

The members of CommonDefense.us have a profound appreciation for the sacrifices and dedication of workers, and we firmly believe that their demands for fair compensation, safe working conditions, and job security are not only justified but essential for a thriving society.

We join our voices with those on the picket lines to call upon employers to engage in good-faith bargaining, recognize the value of their workforce, and prioritize the well-being of their employees. We urge executives and corporations involved to come to the table with a commitment to reaching equitable agreements that address the legitimate concerns of their workers.

As veterans who have defended the principles of freedom and democracy, we understand that the right to organize, collectively bargain, and strike are fundamental pillars of a free and fair society. We support the SAG-AFTRA, WGA, and UAW members unequivocally in their pursuit of justice, and we will stand with them in solidarity throughout their struggle.

In unity, we find strength. Together, we can build a future where workers are treated with the respect and fairness they deserve.
