Washington, D.C. — Today, Common Defense, a grassroots organization of veterans and military families, announced its endorsement of former congresswoman Mary Peltola for the U.S. Senate in Alaska.
Naveed Shah, U.S. Army veteran and Political Director at Common Defense, released the following statement:
“Common Defense is proudly endorsing Mary Peltola for the U.S. Senate in Alaska. As a former congresswoman, lifelong Alaskan, and mother of two Coast Guardsmen, Mary deeply understands the sacrifices veterans and their families make, and she has a record of fighting to deliver for them. In Congress, she helped secure a historic pay raise for servicemembers, fought for funding for veterans’ healthcare, and worked to bring federal resources home to Alaska’s military communities. As an Alaska Native woman who has spent her career defending her state, she recognizes the importance of listening to those most impacted by the decisions made in Washington. We know Mary will bring that same drive and accountability to the Senate, which is why we are standing behind her.”
