Common Defense Veterans Endorse Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan for Senate

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Today, Common Defense, the nation’s largest grassroots organization of veterans and military families, is proud to endorse Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan for Senate. Common Defense represents more than 500,000 veterans, military family members, and civilian allies across the country, including thousands who call Minnesota home.

“Minnesotans face a crucial election this year — in a must win seat — with the Minnesota Senate race. As our nation fights back against federal authoritarian overreach, the occupation of our cities, the gutting of veteran healthcare services, and so much more, it is imperative that we have fighters representing us in Washington, DC. Veterans know what real leadership looks like: service before self, a commitment to community, and the courage to fight for what’s right. It is clear that with a life dedicated to service and organizing communities for the better, that Peggy Flanagan is the leader and fighter we all need.” – U.S. Army Veteran and Political Director for Common Defense, Naveed Shah

“I’m honored to earn the endorsement of Common Defense. Veterans know better than anyone what it means to put service over self and to defend the Constitution,” said Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan. “Donald Trump and his administration are testing our democracy, pushing policies that undermine our rights and threaten our safety. I’m proud to stand with veterans who are fighting to protect our freedoms.”

Air Force Veteran, Minneapolis resident, and Common Defense Communications Director, Jacob Thomas, added:

“Lt. Governor Flanagan has shown up, not just for veterans, but for all of our communities, day after day and year after year. In this moment of crisis, we need a leader who speaks with a loud, clear voice. While our cities are under siege from ICE and the federal government, Peggy has been on the front lines trying to take care of the community. She has proven her mettle and I hope that Minnesota’s veterans will join me in caucusing for her on February 3rd. I cannot wait to see her be the next Senator from the North Star State!”
