Common Defense Announces New Slate of Endorsements for U.S. Senate
WASHINGTON D.C. – Common Defense, the largest grassroots organization of progressive veterans nationwide, representing nearly 400,000 members, is proud to endorse a powerful slate of seven candidates for the U.S. Senate who are committed to defending democracy and upholding the values that veterans like us fought to protect. These candidates are relentless in their support for equality, reproductive freedom, and safeguarding the future of our nation from extremism.
The following Senate candidates have earned our full support:
Angela Alsobrooks (MD)
Tammy Baldwin (WI)
Sherrod Brown (OH)
Bob Casey Jr. (PA)
Debbie Murcarsel-Powell (FL)
Elissa Slotkin (MI)
Jon Tester (MT)
“We’re thrilled to endorse these leaders, who stand as a bulwark against the dangerous rise of MAGA extremism. They are dedicated to ensuring that the Senate prioritizes the needs of the American people — like veterans and working families — over partisan interests. They champion policies that defend reproductive rights, promote equality, and ensure that all Americans have a voice in their government,” said Naveed Shah, Political Director of Common Defense.
As veterans who have taken an oath to defend our country and its democratic principles, Common Defense is committed to mobilizing support for these candidates through grassroots organizing, voter engagement, and advocacy. Together, we will continue to fight for a Senate that upholds a democracy that works for all.

Common Defense is a grassroots, veteran-led organization that was founded in 2016. We empower veterans to stand up for our communities against the rising tide of racism, hate, and violence, to organize against the entrenched powers that have rigged our economy, and to champion an equitable and representative democracy, where “liberty and justice” truly is for all. For too long, politicians from both political parties have attempted to use veterans as unwilling political props, and Common Defense serves as a home for veterans to organize and speak for themselves and support the candidates who truly share our values.
