Common Defense Endorses Additional Slate of Minnesota Candidates
WASHINGTON D.C. – Common Defense, the largest veteran-led grassroots organization nationwide, adds new endorsements for powerhouse candidates in Minnesota. These candidates for the U.S. House are championing democratic values, reproductive rights, and many of the same values our veteran members fight for everyday. On behalf of the nearly 400,000 veterans within our nationwide membership, we are proud to endorse:
Kelly Morrison | MN-03
Rep. Betty McCollum | MN-04
Jen Schultz | MN-08
“Minnesota has been leading on so many critical policy initiatives and it is thanks to women like Kelly Morrison and Jen Schultz who served in the Minnesota State Legislature. We are excited to see them continue that legacy in Congress alongside Rep. Betty McCollum as well as Rep. Ilhan Omar and Rep. Angie Craig who we endorsed earlier this year. All of these amazing women make me proud to call Minnesota Home.” — Jacob Thomas, Common Defense Communications Director, Air Force veteran, and Minneapolis resident
With control of the House at stake, sending Kelly Morrison and Jen Schultz to Congress and ensuring Congresswoman Betty McCollum retains her seat is crucial. All three of these exceptional candidates have proven they are up for the challenge and ready to lead on pro-democracy, pro-veteran, and pro-freedom issues in the next Congress.
Common Defense is mobilizing veterans and military families to support candidates across the country through grassroots organizing, voter outreach, and advocacy efforts. Together, we’re committed to building a more just, equitable future for all because our service — and our oath — to this great nation did not expire when we hung up our uniforms.

Common Defense Civic Engagement is a grassroots, veteran-led organization that was founded in 2016. We empower veterans to stand up for our communities against the rising tide of racism, hate, and violence, to organize against the entrenched powers that have rigged our economy, and to champion an equitable and representative democracy, where “liberty and justice” truly is for all. For too long, politicians from both political parties have attempted to use veterans as unwilling political props, and Common Defense serves as a home for veterans to organize and speak for themselves and support the candidates who truly share our values.
