Progressive Veterans ENDORSE RAQUEL TERÁN FOR congress

PHOENIX, AZ – Common Defense, the nation’s largest grassroots veterans organization, proudly announces its endorsement of Raquel Terán for Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District. As an organization dedicated to championing the voices of veterans in the political arena, we believe Raquel Terán embodies the values and integrity needed to lead with distinction.

"I'm honored to have the endorsement of Common Defense. Our veterans give up so much to protect our freedom during their times of service, and I'm grateful for their continued dedication to our freedoms at home, too. Our country is at a crossroads, where we choose between extremism and hate or unity and justice. Common Defense makes sure liberty and justice for everyone truly is at our forefront, and I'm proud to join them in that work," - Raquel Terán

Raquel Terán has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the principles of unity and justice, which are central to Common Defense's mission. Her dedication to ensuring liberty and justice for all aligns perfectly with our organization's goals and the needs of Arizonans.

“Raquel is one of us, a true Arizonan who I’ve seen stand for justice and inclusion. Her dedication to the values we cherish, and that veterans like me have fought for, makes her a standout leader and exceptional candidate. We are proud to back her campaign and work together to create the positive change our community deserves.” - Joanna Sweatt, Arizona resident and US Marine Veteran

Common Defense, along with its diverse and passionate community of Arizona veterans, proudly joins a growing coalition of supporters for Raquel Terán's congressional campaign, including Sen. Mark Kelly, The Working Families Party, Vote Mama, and dozens of local leaders throughout Arizona.

Common Defense Civic Engagement is a grassroots, veteran-led organization that was founded in 2016. We empower veterans to stand up for our communities against the rising tide of racism, hate, and violence, to organize against the entrenched powers that have rigged our economy, and to champion an equitable and representative democracy, where “liberty and justice” truly is for all. For too long, politicians from both political parties have attempted to use veterans as unwilling political props, and Common Defense serves as a home for veterans to organize and speak for themselves and support the candidates who truly share our values.
