Veterans Endorse Rep. Andy Kim for U.S. Senate
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 25, 2024
BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ – Common Defense, the largest veteran-led grassroots organization in the nation, is proud to announce its endorsement of Rep. Andy Kim for his election to the United States Senate. As a former national security official and proven public servant, Kim has consistently demonstrated his commitment to serving his country and protecting democratic values.
“Rep. Andy Kim is an outstanding servant leader. In Congress, he fought to lower prescription drug prices, protect reproductive freedom, and to defending democracy. New Jersey would be lucky to have him as their next Senator,” said Naveed Shah, Common Defense’s Political Director.
Since his start as a Congressman in 2018, Rep. Kim has been a strong advocate for veterans, working families, and strengthening American democracy. His experience and dedication to public service have equipped him to fight against extremism, promote equality, and ensure that the needs of veterans are at the forefront of his legislative agenda in the Senate.
As veterans who have taken an oath to defend our country and its democratic principles, Common Defense is committed to mobilizing support for Rep. Andy Kim through grassroots organizing, voter engagement, and advocacy. Together, we will continue to fight for a Senate that upholds a democracy that works for all.

Common Defense Civic Engagement is a grassroots, veteran-led organization that was founded in 2016. We empower veterans to stand up for our communities against the rising tide of racism, hate, and violence, to organize against the entrenched powers that have rigged our economy, and to champion an equitable and representative democracy, where “liberty and justice” truly is for all. For too long, politicians from both political parties have attempted to use veterans as unwilling political props, and Common Defense serves as a home for veterans to organize and speak for themselves and support the candidates who truly share our values.
