Veterans back Congressman Colin Allred For U.S. Senate
DALLAS, TEXAS – Common Defense, the nation’s largest grassroots veterans organization, proudly endorses Texas Congressman Colin Allred for the United States Senate. Known for his civil rights work as an attorney and as a House Veterans Affairs Committee member, Allred has firmly advocated for veteran rights and freedoms. His candidacy represents a crucial effort to replace MAGA extremist Ted Cruz with a leader committed to the values veterans have sacrificed to protect.
“Veterans in Texas know what it means to stand up for freedom. As a former civil rights attorney, and member of the House Veterans Committee I am dedicated to working with our veterans to ensure they get the benefits they are owed, and that America always reflects our shared values, which our veterans sacrificed so much to defend. I am proud to earn the endorsement of Common Defense, and work alongside them to retire Ted Cruz.” – Rep. Colin Allred
Common Defense is dedicated to supporting principled leaders who honor the service and sacrifices of veterans by advocating for policies that promote justice, democracy, and equality.
"Congressman Allred embodies the integrity and dedication to public service that our members, not only in Texas but nationwide, cherish," said Miguel Cruz, Common Defense Houston Lead Organizer. "His proven track record in fighting for veterans’ rights and his unwavering commitment to democratic values make him the ideal candidate to represent Texas in the Senate. We are excited to support his campaign and work together to create a brighter future for all Americans."

Common Defense Civic Engagement is a grassroots, veteran-led organization that was founded in 2016. We empower veterans to stand up for our communities against the rising tide of racism, hate, and violence, to organize against the entrenched powers that have rigged our economy, and to champion an equitable and representative democracy, where “liberty and justice” truly is for all. For too long, politicians from both political parties have attempted to use veterans as unwilling political props, and Common Defense serves as a home for veterans to organize and speak for themselves and support the candidates who truly share our values.
