Grassroots veterans organization endorses Abdul in competitive race for Michigan’s open U.S. Senate seat
MICHIGAN – Today, Common Defense, the nation’s largest grassroots organization of veterans and military families, announced its endorsement of Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate in Michigan.
Common Defense is proud to join a broad coalition supporting Abdul’s campaign, including Senator Bernie Sanders, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, and over 80+ other state and local elected officials, community leaders, and advocacy groups.
Jose Vasquez, Executive Director of Common Defense and U.S. Army veteran said the following:
“Veterans don’t want another politician who talks big and folds when billionaire donors call. Abdul has spent his career making government deliver real help such as health care people can afford, wages people can live on, and clean air and water our kids and communities deserve. He respects the dignity of working people and the promises made to those who served, including protecting and strengthening the VA. We’re proud to endorse Abdul because Michigan needs a fighter in the Senate who will stand up to corporate power and deliver for the people who truly keep this country running.”
