Common Defense Endorses Matthew McCoy for State Representative in Rhode Island’s 31st District

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Common Defense, a grassroots organization of veterans and military families, announced its endorsement of Matthew McCoy for State Representative in Rhode Island’s 31st District. From his decades of service with the Navy to his work as a Town Councilor and long-term advocate for veterans, McCoy has continued to put service and his community first — the kind of commitment we expect in candidates who will fight for the people they represent.

Naveed Shah, U.S. Army veteran and Political Director at Common Defense, released the following statement:

“Matt McCoy served decades in the Navy, and he never stopped serving after he came home. As a Town Councilor and a voice for veterans at the State House, he’s shown what it means to keep faith with the people who wore the uniform. Common Defense is proud to back Matt McCoy for House District 31. Rhode Island needs leaders who show up for veterans long after the parade ends.”
